The Autonomous University of Madrid (UAM) is a public university that combines quality teaching, intensive research and high job placement with a firm social commitment, being a benchmark in these areas, according to various global indicators. The Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) is the largest public research organization in Spain and one of the most renowned institutions in the European Research Area (ERA). In the framework of imPrYME (https://csic-impryme.evento-virtual.es/), during the fair, CSIC organizes workshops and different activities focused on SMEs. imPrYME is a project carried out by CSIC and co-funded by Comunidad de Madrid and Fondo Europeo de Desarrollo Regional. The main objective of imPrYME is to foster innovation of SMEs making them available all the proprietary technologies and capabilities of CSIC.
The Spanish Patent and Trade Mark Office (SPTO) is an autonomous body that forms part of the General Administration of the State and which promotes and supports technological and economic development. It provides legal protection to all types of industrial property by awarding patents and utility models (inventions); industrial designs; trade marks and trade names (distinctive signs) and rights protecting topographies of semiconductor products. It also disseminates information on the various ways in which industrial property can be protected.
The University of La Laguna is a public university located at the city of San Cristóbal de La Laguna, in Tenerife. It is the oldest higher education centre in the Canary Islands, with more than two hundred and twenty years of history. Currently, this public institution is made up of more than 25,000 people, including students, teaching staff and administration and services personnel.The different international rankings place the University of La Laguna as a medium-sized University. The Galician Innovation Agency is an autonomous public agency belonging to the Xunta de Galicia, which aims to promote and structure innovation policies within the Galician public administrations, as well as to support and boost the growth and competitiveness of Galician companies through the implementation of efficient innovation strategies and programmes. One of the main objectives pursued by the Agency is the transfer of knowledge and technology among the different agents and, particularly, among public research organisations and companies. Furthermore, the Galician Innovation Agency, through the Galician Industrial Property Service, is a collaborating partner of the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office, and it is also recognised by the European Patent Office, as part of the PATLIB, as well as by the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO).
The Barrié Foundation, a Galician asset foundation dedicated since its creation in 1966 to improving the economic and social conditions in this autonomous community, focuses its activity on the fields of education, science, social action, heritage and culture. Committed to science and research, the Barrié Foundation puts faith in a kind of science that is fully involved in the economic and social circuit, a responsible science, the product of a society conscious of its importance in progress. For this reason, the institution works on projects that support scientific research, the training of research talent, the promotion of scientific vocations in young people and the promotion of knowledge transfer to bring science closer to the market. On this matter, the Barrié Foundation and the Galician Innovation Agency are developing the Ignicia Knowledge Transfer Programme, which serves as a link between the great potential of the excellent science carried out in Galicia and the business world to convert research into useful market solutions for society. This programme includes the Proof of Concept call, a pioneering initiative in Spain that promotes the development of commercial applications of research generated in Galician knowledge centres, facilitating the validation of technology and the development of business plans that lead to the creation of spin-offs or the signing of licensing agreements. In addition, in the framework of Ignicia, its worth metioning innovative materials valorisation processes; training programmes aimed at transfer management staff and research staff; as well as transfer and innovation meetings and studies on aspects related to knowledge transfer
The ULPGC, established in 1989, has university institutes, research centres and research groups covering all fields of knowledge, made up of nearly 1000 researchers and around 1000 PhD students. The ULPGC created as well a Scientific and Technological Park (PCT, in Spanish) to ensure a more dynamic transfer of R&D+i results to society in the Canary Islands but also help to launch technology-based companies.
The University of Malaga (UMA) is a public institution, which promotes outstanding research and teaching within the European Higher Education Area. UMA is one of the most dynamic and fast growing research and education institutions in Spain. Its most active research fields, and connected with entrepreneurship, are ICT and BIO. Universidad Pablo de Olavide (UPO), founded in 1997, is one of the Spain’s youngest public universities. The university is a dynamic institution dedicated to educating the men and women of tomorrow through strong academic programs, innovative research, and a highly educated faculty. The University of Huelva is a young public institution characterized by its flexibility, dynamism and modernity. The University of Jaén (UJA) is a dynamic public university committed to the new challenges of business and society, which is firmly focused on university-industry cooperation. The Miguel Hernández University of Elche is a young and dynamic public University located in southeast Spain, in the Valencian Community, an area of high economic and business potential. The University of Seville, as a Public Research Organisation, continuously generates results of great technological value for society. As a Higher Education Institution, the University of A Coruña (UDC) has developed a comprehensive structure for the transfer of its research results. The UDC has deployed a network of Specialized Research Centres (4) with an advanced performance in ICTs, Building and Civil Engineering, 4.0 Industry and Chemistry and Life Sciences. The Health Research Institute of Santiago de Compostela (IDIS) is a biomedical research centre of marked translational character that takes advantage of the synergies of the University Clinical Hospital of Santiago de Compostela and the University of Santiago de Compostela to promote and encourage excellent research, scientific and technological knowledge and its subsequent transfer to the productive sector, as well as teaching and training, focused on a clear objective: to improve the people´s health. The IMDEA Institutes are research centres of excellence based in the Region of Madrid. They were established as independent foundations between 2006 and 2007 at the initiative of the regional government. They are focused on seven strategic areas for society from a business, scientific and technological point of view: water, food, energy, materials, nanoscience, networks and software. The mission of the IMDEA Institutes is to encourage excellent R+D+I and create an efficient science and technology development model while collaborating with the productive sector.
The Biomedical Research Institute of A Coruña (INIBIC – Biomedical Research Institute of A Coruña) is made up of the Research groups of the Hospital, the University and the Primary Care Area of A Coruña, with the aim of creating a stable collaboration framework, which integrates the basic and clinical research carried out, enabling a more effective transfer to society of the scientific advances obtained in the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of diseases. INIBIC is a research institute accredited on March 10, 2015 by the Secretary of State for Research, Development and Innovation, at the proposal of the Carlos III Health Institute and the Ministry of Health.
The Intersectorial Technology Alliance of Galicia (ATIGA), created in 2012, is composed by AIMEN, ANFACO-CECOPESCA, CETIM, CTAG, ENERGYLAB, GRADIANT e ITG, the seven Galician Technology Centres of state character. Thanks to the capacities of these reference technology centres, ATIGA acts as a strategic R&D partner for enterprise and offers extensive experience in the development of individual innovation projects or projects in collaboration with other companies for the main strategic sectors of Galicia. Across the cooperation between its members, ATIGA works to achieve the technological excellence, to promote the joint common participation in the development of big projects national and of the EU and to offer to the companies more opportunities of international action. ATIGA is the largest private Alliance in the field of innovation in Galicia and mobiliser of corporate R&D, placing innovation as key to improving production structures and modernising industry. Its challenge is to position Galicia as a technological benchmark, joining forces to compete at national and European level. ATIGA works in the definition of the public policies related to the R&D.
ANFACO-CECOPESCA is a national technological center whose main objectives are promoting the quality, research, technological development and innovation in the marine and food sector. ANFACO-CECOPESCA developes annually more than 100 R&D&i projects of national and international level, mainly in direct collaboration with companies, transferring technological advanced solutions to the industrial sector. ANFACO-CECOPESCA currently has a total of 21 patents related to the development of processing and conservation technologies, new formulas and food products, and the development of systems to improve food safety. The most important are the four related to the development of systems for freezing, thawing, cooking and sterilization based on ultrasound for their application in food processing lines in order to improve the efficiency of the processes in terms of energy savings. This technology will be key in the coming years to carry out the decarbonisation of the sector.
CTAG – Automotive Technology Centre of Galicia is a private non-for-profit research and technology organisation created in 2002 to offer advanced solutions to the automotive, transport and mobility sectors. With almost 1.000 employees, CTAG closely works with the industrial companies, both national and European, supporting their R&D efforts. It also protects the results of its projects and activities: currently, it holds a portfolio of more than 110 patents. CTAG is de owner or co-owner of 60% of them and, in the rest, researchers of CTAG appear as inventors in patents filed by its clients (as a result of technology transfer collaborative projects). CTAG’s patents cover a wide variety of themes, all related to its core competencies: manufacturing processes, new materials, and electronics & intelligent transport systems.
Gradiant, Spanish ICT technology centre, aims to improve the competitiveness of companies by transferring knowledge and technologies in the fields of connectivity, intelligence and security. With more than 130 professionals and 14 applied patents, Gradiant has developed more than 340 different R&D&i projects, becoming one of the main engines of innovation in Galicia. In 2021, Gradiant’s turnover reached 6 million euros, working with more than 370 clients in 30 countries since 2008. With a strong focus on IP, Gradiant has developed technology assets that have been licensed worldwide, launching its first spin-off, Alice Biometrics, in 2019. Two more spin-offs are expected to be constituted in the next 12 months.

The Health Knowledge Agency (ACIS) is a public Galician agency that was created to become the chief element of the health knowledge and innovation ecosystem in Galicia.
A new vision to face knowledge challenges. The most valuable tool for health professionals to care for health is knowledge. Experience, training, research, innovation and new technologies guarantee the constant improvement of the health practice, and it is necessary to comprehensively manage them all to obtain maximum value as far as patients are concerned.
Our mission. ACIS is the Galician Public Health System instrument used to optimally disseminate knowledge since the time it emerges until it is transferred to society. To achieve this, it includes the following in the same value chain:
• Training for healthcare professionals.
• Health research.
• Innovation from an open approach, not only for results to be transferred from the laboratory to hospital beds and also to the market, but also for them to generate economic returns that result in public health.
• Assessing technologies to ensure that the most innovative ones are applied in accordance with top security criteria.
The Universitat Jaume I (UJI) is a young university located in the city of Castelló whose mission is to further knowledge by conducting high-quality research that is capable of reaching society. Since 1991, the UJI has earned a reputation for serious and relevant scientific work. The research developed at the UJI is a good starting point for the implementation of innovative solutions for companies and administrations.
The University CEU Cardenal Herrera is a public service privately managed university and belongs to the Fundación Universitaria San Pablo CEU, the largest private initiative educational institution in Spain, which includes three Universities in its unique structure. From its origins it has been represented by the pioneering character and contribution to the technological and scientific development proceeding from the efforts of its capable personnel aside from the resources and means obtained, as well as the dissemination and practical implementation at the local, regional, national and international level.
CSIC’s office in Valencia “La Casa de la Ciència” manages knowledge and technology transfer in the Valencian Community by connecting the 11 CSIC’s research institutes in the region with the private sector worldwide through R&D projects under contract, IPR licenses and other collaboration mechanisms. With more than 40 patents available for licensing and more than 100 research groups, CSIC’s institutes in Valencia can cover a wide range of industrial demands in multiple sectors.
The University of Valencia was founded in 1499. In the Academic Ranking of World Universities, popularly known as the Shanghai ranking, UV is placed among the 300 best academic institutions in the world. UV is the first Valencian university in that ranking and is among the five best in Spain. Furthermore, UV is the first Spanish university in Chemistry, and second in Physics, according to the scientific areas ranking of Nature Index. Regarding its intellectual property rights, UV owns more than 230 patent families in force, and filed more than 45 patents in 2021, in different industrial sectors.
The Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) is a public higher education institution hosting over 36,000 students and employs over 5,000 people (teaching, research, administrative, support staff). UPV accounts for 82 research structures, 893 lines of research, 503 patents and software, and 24 spin-off companies. It is the leading technological university in Spain according to international rankings (e.g. Shanghai Ranking of World Universities). UPV has repeatedly been ranked among the top five European universities in student exchange figures under the Erasmus Programme. UPV has wide experience in EU-funded project management and takes part in different actions (H2020, FP7, Tempus, Alfa, Erasmus Mundus, US-Atlantis, LLP networks and multilateral projects, Creative Europe, Erasmus+) and in several international networks such as ANUIES, Magalhaes, Santander Group, CONAHEC, CARPE, or SEFI.
The Andalusian Institute for Agricultural, Fisheries, Food and Organic Production Research and Training (IFAPA) is an Administrative Agency of the Andalusian Government created by the Law 1/2003 of the Parliament of Andalusia, integrating a network of 15 research and training centres, existing for over 40 years. It is linked to the Regional Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development and is related to the sector through the participation of 11 professional organizations of agriculture and fisheries in its Social Council. The institute's mission is to contribute to the modernization of agriculture, fisheries and food of Andalusia and improving its competitiveness through research, innovation, technology transfer and training of professionals in these sectors
