There are two different ways to reach Segovia from Madrid:

First:          by train from Chamartin to Segovia.

Second:        by bus from Principe Pio to Segovia (recommended).

For both methods you will need to reach either Principe Pio Bus Station or Chamartin Train Station. Both of these can be reached by Metro, bus or taxi from the airport.

If you arrive early and fancy a quick look at Madrid, baggage lockers are available in the Airport, and a taxi will have you in the centre of Madrid in 15-20 minutes. The best places to see are Puerta del Sol for the old city or Serrano for the upmarket shopping area.

Getting back to the airport is easy; just hail any taxi with a green light or green sign saying ‘Libre’ in the window.

   From the Airport By Metro

You can now travel to & from the Barajas Airport on the new metro line number 8. Prices are 1,15 Euros for a single journey and 5,35 Euros for ten journeys. Ten-ticket passes are also valid on the buses, but not for the special buses to the airport.   The Metro is open from 6.30am to 1.30am every day. Map

Madrid has 6 principal highways entering and leaving the city; the N-I to N-VI. It also has two major (and almost complete) ring roads, the inner-one is known as the M30, the outer one known as the M40.

A zoomable map, centred on Madrid Barajas Airport is available from MapQuest here

From the Airport take the A-10 to the M-40 going in the direction of the A-6

Leave the M-40 at the turning for the A-6 signposted ‘A Coruna’ or ‘Villalba’

Keep the A-6 heading into the mountains, through a tunnel and take the turns signposted for Segovia.
